Helen Boytor

Helen Boytor, 96, of Elgin passed away on December 9, 2012 in her home. She was born on July 27, 1916 in Elgin to Peter and Viola Bazos. Helen was a Lifelong resident of Elgin. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1934 and attended beauty school. Helen worked as a Beautician in the Elgin Tower Building and later from a shop in her home. She also worked for her brothers at Bazos Bros. Cleaners. Helen was a founding member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Des Plaines, IL.
She was a member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Elgin, Philoptochos Society of St. Sophia, St. Joseph Hospital Junior League and Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority.
Survivors include her two sons: Samuel (Carol) of Gilberts, and James (Peggy) of Oakwood Hills. Grandchildren: Samuel, Dean, Elaina and Matthew Boytor, along with many nieces, nephews and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Boytor, whom she married in 1955 and passed in 1991. Her brothers and sister-in-laws: Samuel & Frances; Christian & Mary; and James & Frieda Bazos, also a grandson Scott Edward Boytor.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 13, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 525 Church Rd., Elgin with Fr. Andrew Karamitos officiating. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin from 4-8:00 P.M. with Trisagion Prayers recited at 7:00 P.M.
