Verlin "Bud" Loek

Verlin “Bud” Loek, 91 of Elgin passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at ManorCare Health Services., Elgin. He was born August 18, 1922 in Lake Wilson, MN the son of Henry and Rose Ackmann Loek. He had been a resident of Elgin for 85 years and was a graduate of Elgin High School. He married Darlene Marsh of Dec. 7, 1946. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in W.W. II. After the war he did his apprenticeship at the Elgin Case Factory. He was employed at Armin Tool in South Elgin for over 30 years before retiring.
He was a charter member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, Elgin. He was a former member of the Elgin Golden K Kiwanis Club. He and his wife Darlene were members of the Airstream Club.
Surviving are his daughter, Sue (Keith) Riebock of Freeport, Il, 3 sons, Verlin Jr. (Mona) Portland, OR, Phillip (Sharon) of Hampshire and Gregory (Kathy) of Faribault, MN, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Helen Lenschow of Urbana, Barb Lawrence of Elgin and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Darlene on Nov. 16, 2004, a son in infancy, a grandson, a daughter in law, 2 brothers, Al and Barney Loek, 2 sisters, Myrtle Booth and Vi Oliver.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 5 at 11:00 A.M., at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Tr., Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church.
