Jeannine Ingram Willis Burger, 84, of Elgin, died Friday, February 8, 2014 in Woodstock. She was born May 8, 1929 in Melrose Park the daughter of Elna Fray and Donald Reiter Willis of Maywood. She attended Beloit College and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Elgin and in 2001 was inducted into the Elgin Area Hall of Fame along with her husband for contributing to the history and heritage of the area through years of collecting and organizing church records. She was a member of Tri Delta sorority, a 60 year member of D.A.R., and active as a genealogist, having been a charter member and former officer of the Elgin Genealogical Society. Surviving are her three daughters, Suzanne (James) Campbell of Woodstock, Il.; Christine (Gary) Rice of Sutton, MA.; and Nancy Smith of New York City; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Campbell, Sarah and Andrew Rice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George VanderKarr Burger in 1998 and her sister, MaryEllen Willis Gibson. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, Feb. 15 at First Congregational Church 256 E. Chicago St., Elgin. Burial will follow in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held at the time of services on Saturday in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Congregational Church of Elgin Education Fund or the Elgin Genealogical Society.
