Charles "Charlie" Cecil

Charles “Charlie” H. Cecil, 70, of Williams Bay, WI, formerly of Elgin passed away on May 22, 2014 in his home. He was born on May 29, 1943 in Evanston, IL. Charlie had owned and operated Component Hardware Corp. for many years prior to retirement. He was very active in the Elgin Jaycees, St. James Episcopal Church of West Dundee, and the Miss Elgin and Miss Illinois Pageants. He was a charter member of the Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club and was made a honorary lifetime member. Charlie loved fishing, boating, playing bridge, wood working, and spending time with friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife: Cheri Cecil, whom he married on Sept. 30, 2000. 2 daughters: Kimberly Cecil and Debbie (Mike) Sheehy; 2 step children: Carla (Tim) Mote and Jeff Burnett; 8 grandchildren; and a brother: Robert Cecil.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Cecil and Mary Etnyre; and his first wife: Bonnie (Taylor) Cecil.
Funeral mass will be held on Friday May 30, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Crane Rd., St. Charles, IL. Inurnment will follow at Prairie Cemetery, St. Charles, IL. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-9:00 P.M. at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and on Friday at the church from 11:00 A.M. until the mass.
