Ronald E. Baker, 69, from Hampshire, IL, passed away on September 1, 2014 at Loyola Hospital with his loved ones by his side. Ron was born June 2, 1945 in Elgin, IL and was the youngest son of Glenn O. and Helen Katherine Baker. He was the proud owner of Ron Baker Painting and Decorating for nearly fifty years. Ron was known for his unsurpassed work ethic, love of singing, and comedic sense of humor. When not painting, he enjoyed listening to country music, watching the Chicago Cubs, and working around his yard. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved this hard working, fun-loving man.
Ron is survived in death by his significant other, Jenny McDaniel, of Hampshire, IL, as well as his two daughters, Kerri Still(Dean)of Batavia, IL, and Karsin Mielke(Ken) of Geneva, IL. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Kaleb Still, Grace Mielke, Ethan Still, and Shelby Mielke. In addition, he is survived by his seven siblings, Yvonne Dummer of Winter Haven, Fl, Donald Baker(Barbara) of Hampton Bay, NY, Glenda Dunn(Ernie) of Bellevue, WA, Norma Daum(Jack) of Huntley, IL, Judy Fehrman(Jerry) of Henderson, NV, Gary Baker(Dolores) or Elgin, IL, and Linda Busche(Richard) of Winter Haven, FL along with many nieces and nephews.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13th, at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin, IL from 2 – 4pm followed by a service honoring Ron’s life beginning at 4pm.
