Gordon B. “Red’ Barrett, 96 of Crystal Lake passed away on March 1, 2015 at Alden Terrace in McHenry. He was born September 19, 1918 in Galva, IL the son of Floyd and Eula (Birchard) Barrett.
Red was proud to have served his country in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and he and his wife, Dorothy, were long-time members of First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake. He was a retired cabinet-maker & loved to read and do crossword puzzles in his spare time.
He is survived by his children, Sharon (Harold) Shiver, Linda Havlik, Gregory (Edith) Barrett, Debi (Russell) Jones, Scott (Laurie) Barrett, 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, Dorothy(Larson) Barrett, two sisters, Iris Grosso and Ethel O’Donnell and a brother, Robert Barrett.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 3-7 P.M. with a funeral services at 4 P.M. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Algonquin Chapel 201 S. Main St. Algonquin, IL.
