James E. "Jim" Booth

James E. “Jim” Booth, 64, of South Elgin passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 in his home. He was born on December 9, 1950, in Springfield, MO, the son of Ralph E. Booth and Ruth Moss Vickers, and is survived by his mother of Pinellas Park, Florida. He lived the first 30 years of his life in Missouri and Kansas, coming to the Chicago area in 1980. He attended the University of Missouri, as well as taking classes at Elgin Community College in later years.

Jim was a professional musician for 25 years. He performed on the trumpet in several bands backing-up well-known entertainers. Jim toured with Rita Moreno as one of her personal musicians. Among his many other engagements were tours with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and as a band member for several musical theater productions. Jim subsequently entered the computer field, and worked at Elgin Mental Health Center for 19 years, retiring in 2013 from his position as an information systems analyst.

In both careers, Jim concerned himself with excellence in his performance. He was well-liked and respected by many. Jim was intelligent and caring and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was loved without limits by his longtime companion of 19 years, Tricia Richardson, since their first date on September 6, 1996.
