Robert Lee Bingaman

Robert Lee Bingaman, 86, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Delnor Hospital, Geneva. He was born October 16, 1929 in Elgin, the son of Alvin and Alice Cook Bingaman. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life, and was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1948. He was a carpenter and member of Carpenter’s Local 363. He then became the Business Agent of the union for many years, and later served as President of the Fox River Valley District Council of Carpenters before retiring in 1991. He was an avid sports fan and liked the Cubs, Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks and loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
He was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, St. Charles.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Hobaugh Bingaman whom he married Feb. 24, 1951, 5 children, Cynthia Lee (Gary) Gray, Richard Lee (Jean) Bingaman, Cheryl Lee (Bruce) Silberstorf, Rodney Lee (Maria) Bingaman and Christina Lee (James) Hollis; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Kevin, Brooke, Ryan, Hunter, Avery, Hayden, Gage, Claire, Jimi Lee and Justin Robert; 8 great grandchildren, Hayley, Jakob, Grayson, Kennedy, Briar, Sophia, Jackson and Caden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Alvin Bingaman and a grandson, Gary Robert Gray.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 NOON, Tuesday, November 3 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.
