Donald A. Chouinard, 81, of Elgin passed away on July 7, 2010 in his home, surrounded by family. He was born on March 22, 1929 in Chicago, IL the son of Archie and Marie (Schlumberger) Chouinard. Don was a Veteran and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He had worked for Illinois Bell in the Elgin Area for 39 years prior to his retirement, and was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers.
He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 799.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Wallers) of Elgin.
3 children: Debbie (George) Trautman of Geneva, IL; Karen (Dave) Jannusch of Geneva, IL; Lawrence (Karen) Chouinard of West Dundee, IL.
2 step daughters: Debbie (Mike) Smith of Aurora, IL and Donna (Patrick) Rolison of Aurora, IL. 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
His sister, June (Leroy) Lodge of Elgin and his brother, Gerald (Pat) Chouinard of AZ, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Sandra Chouinard.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday July 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin. Private burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Aurora, IL.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 P.M. at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday at the church from 9:15 A.M. until the mass. Omission of flowers is requested with memorials made to National MS Society, C/O the family or Provena St. Joseph Hospice.
