LaVerne J Andersen
(11-17-1918 - 12-28-2016)

LaVerne J. Andersen, 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28th, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin, with family at her side. Born November 17th, 1918 in Chicago, to Johanne and Julius Jessien. The family moved to Elgin, where she graduated from Elgin High School. After a 10 month trip to Denmark to visit family, she returned with her husband, Knud Erik. They raised their 4 daughters in Elgin, before they moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas for 17 years. A move to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin brought them closer to all 4 of their daughters. After 13 years, they returned to Elgin, where Knud Erik died, and she lived at the Fox Valley Horizon Apartments.
LaVerne enjoyed a very active life, ice skating, tennis and swimming, and won awards in the USA Masters Swimming in her age group of 65-68. For 27 years, she enjoyed making quilts for various church groups that sent them overseas for World Relief. She also made lap quilts for 911 survivors on the East Coast.
She is survived by four daughters: Christine, Paula (Chuck) Tyburk, Jessie (Mike) Stephens, Lisa (Scott) Klingberg; five grandchildren: Johanne (Mike) Stachura, Erik (Allie) Stephens, Zachary, Drew and Troy Klingberg; two great grandchildren: Nike and Grant Stachura.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Alice Ziegler and Shirley Page; and brother: Dennis. Services will be private. She will be deeply missed by her family, but she left us with many fantastic memories, morals, faith in the hereafter, and of course, secret recipes. Laird Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
