Bill Black

Bill Black, 88, of South Elgin, passed quietly at home on May 5, 2018. He was born in Oak Park to Lawson & Susan Black. Bill grew up with his slightly older brother Warren and all his school chums who became lifelong friends. Bill married his first wife Norma in 1949 and together they had 4 great kids. Suzanne Black, William “Billy” Black, Cynthia Angelilli and Dean Black. Tragically his son Billy died in a motorcycle accidently in 1983 leaving a very young son Tommy. In 2001 his second daughter Cindy died of cancer leaving 3 almost grown children. Norma Cleeton, the children’s mother passed in 2016. Bill worked his entire career as a body man, setting his entrepreneurial skills in motion running and owning several auto & marine related business’ including Auto Plaza in Elgin and finally Mr. B’s Auto & Marine in South Elgin. Bill enjoyed water & boating with friends and was often found on the Chain of Lakes on his boat or in Florida, enjoying the company of friends with a cocktail in his hand. Bill was the life of the party, he led a charmed life. While Bill was sharp as a tack, he left a body that just couldn’t keep up anymore. Friends please know that he loved you all very much. Bill is survived by his wife Susan Rice of South Elgin, daughter Suzanne Black of Palatine, son Dean (Marilyn) Black of St. Charles; Grandchildren: Amy (Jeorge) Moreno, Christopher (Corey) Peairs, Nicole Angelilli, Jaclyn Angelilli, Thomas (Angela) Black, Adam Angelilli and 9 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Nancy Rice and Patricia Rice.
