Rita A Brinkman

Rita A. Brinkman, 85, of Elgin passed away on December 24, 2010. She was bon on July 2, 1925 in Pecatonica, IL, the daughter of William and Loretta (Highland) Kortendick.
Rita graduated from Rosary College and achieved her Masters’ Degree in Social Work from Loyola University in Chicago, IL. She was employed by Catholic Charities for 35 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker prior to retirement. Rita was active in the Elgin community, as she served on the Boards of the Elgin Mental Health Clinic, Larkin Home, and most recently, the Interfaith Food Pantry.
She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin,
and a volunteer with Provena St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her three daughters: Mary McMillan of Aurora, IL;
Nancy (John) Wiora of Naperville, IL; and Martha (Jack) Burke of Naperville, IL.
Eight grandchildren: Shannon (Steve), Megan, John, Michael, Daniel, Erin, Amy, and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1999, a sister, Bernice Kortendick and a brother, John Kortendick.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday December 30, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pecatonica, IL. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8:00 P.M. at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin IL 60123 and on Thursday at church from 9:15 A.M. until the mass.
