Barbara E. Brezinski
(03-06-1939 - 07-04-2020)

Barbara Elaine Brezinski, 81, of Woodstock, beloved wife, mother, and Ama passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2020 after a long, courageous battle with melanoma. Her husband and daughter were at her side as she reunited with her son in heaven.
Barbara was born March 6th, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Lillian and Arvid Hagg Sr. She was the oldest of 5 children. She married Thaddeus W. Brezinski on December 1st, 1962. Barbara and Ted had two children (Steven Erik and Lisa Marie) and lived for many years in Palatine, IL where she was active in Welcome Wagon and Garden Club. Barbara spent her life caring for her family and home.
After moving to Woodstock, IL 30 years ago Barbara became an active member of the Bull Valley Garden Club. She had a lifelong love of gardening, grew vegetables, but especially loved her flowers. She loved growing plants from seeds in her basement every year and planting them in the spring.
Barbara was a sweet, gentle person and a loyal friend. Family and friends remember her kindness, her thoughtfulness, her compassionate hugs, her beautiful smile, and her tremendous pride in her family. She always looked put-together. She also had a good sense of humor, and her family loved how she would laugh out loud at funny movies.
Her granddaughters fondly remember baking and learning to make meringue with Ama, and it was always “dessert first” when they slept over at Ama and Ampa’s house. When saying goodbye to her granddaughters, she would always say “I have a secret,” and then whisper “I love you” in their ear.
It was a pleasure to know Barbara, “the nicest person you would ever meet.” Often described as a lovely woman, a truly wonderful and caring person, and “a real lady,” Barbara was always pleasant and gracious. She also made delicious potato salad and Dutch apple pie.
Barbara never gave up and lived her life to the fullest. Her husband Ted considered Barbara his best friend and considered himself the luckiest man in the world to have shared his life with her. She made him a better man.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and her only son. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Ted; loving daughter, Lisa (Chris); daughter-in-law, Janet; six grandchildren, Carrie, Stephanie, Lindsey, Kelli, James, and Kyle; two great grandchildren, Alyson and Ashley; siblings, William (Cassy), Gloria (the Late Arvid Jr. “Buster”), Edwin (Geneva), and Linda (Larry); as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date when loved ones can come together. Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is assisting the family. Memorial donations may be given to The Association of the Miraculous Medal, Perryville, MO in lieu of flowers. For information call 847-741-8800.
