William R. Bloom

William “Bill” R. Bloom, 80, of Algonquin, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Sherman Hospital. He was born on May 20, 1931 in Elgin the son of William & Mary (Moltzen) Bloom.

Bill was a US Army Veteran having served from 1954 – 1956, was  one of the first EMT’s to be part of the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Ambulance service, was an avid Ham radio operator and retired from Chicago Rawhide after 40 years of employment.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Samuelson) Bloom to whom he was married on October 10, 1953 in Algonquin.

Grandchildren – Marvin, Billy, Maxwell and Hunter
Sister- Evelyn Rodriguez of FL
4 nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Algonquin with the Rev. Brian Cope. Burial will follow in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. in the chapel. IN lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010.
