Merrill Burnidge

Merrill Burnidge went to be with his Lord on October 20, 2011 at Proven St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born in Elgin on February 6, 1928 to Chuck and Lillian Burnidge. Merrill married Joanne Yurs Burnidge on Jan. 1m 1949.
He was a member of Elgin Evangelical Free Church and served throughout the years in various ministries. Merrill was a Veteran, and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Merrill retired from Curran Road Construction in 1992, and worked at Sauber Manufacturing on a part time basis.
Merrill leaves behind his wife, Joanne; a son, Michael (Mary) Burnidge of AZ and a daughter Angie (Scott) Casebeer, along with 8 grandchildren; Hannah, Spencer and Jordan Burnidge and Lindsey, Jill, Haley, Jack and Trent Casebeer.
Two sisters; Eleanor Miller and Carolyn (Bill) Acker. Also a special friend, Paul Clausen.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Hope and a sister, Lois Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the Elgin Evangelical Free Church, 1900 Big Timber Rd., Elgin with Pastor Elliot Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at South Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, IL. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8:00 P.M. at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the Church.
