Alice M. Steinway

Alice M. Steinway, 90 of Elgin passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Sherman Hospital. She was born February 26, 1922 in Wheaton, IL the daughter of Charles and Anna Kuhn.
Prior to her marriage, Alice worked at the Elgin Watch Factory. Alice was a volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic Church and school, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and NAIM. She was also a Cook County election judge. For many years Alice volunteered her time with meals on wheels. Alice enjoyed traveling, playing cards, sewing, quilting, flowers, dominos and bingo but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchild and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving children, Alan (Dianne) Steinway, Sandra (Mark) Syfert, Judy (Sam) Poppen and Teresa (Bob) Hamby, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grand children and a sister-in-law Carolyn Kuhn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lester whom she was united in marriage to on October 23, 1943, her siblings, Elmer Kuhn, Paul (Francis) Kuhn, Larry (Florence) Kuhn, Ruth (Clarence) Reiser, Marcella (Carl) Frieders, Earl Kuhn and Helen (John) Schramer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St. Elgin, IL. Interment will be in Mt.Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services. Memorials may be given to Vitas Hospice or the charity of choice.
