Myrtle Loretta Stade

 Myrtle Loretta Stade, 90, of Elgin passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. She was born November 24, 1926 the first child to Edwin and Helen Poehls Stade. Myrtle attended 5 years at her first school, Orchard Place which was a one room schoolhouse. When the Stade family moved to Bensenville, she attended Elk Grove School on Higgins Rd, for the remainder of her school years. After school years she did babysitting and housework for many families. At the age of 27 she began working at Sherman Cleaners in Bartlett, which later moved to Elgin and became Exclusive Cleaners. She also worked for Cramers Cleaners and retired at the age of 62.

Myrtle was very involved in her church at Immanuel Lutheran in Bartlett. She participated in the Ladies Aide, LWML, Altar Guild and served as the Sunday School Secretary.

In the mid 60’s, Myrtle began what would become her annual family Christmas party for her nieces and nephews. At the time there were about 8 to 10 of them, which has grown over the years to include about 80 family members. Myrtle enjoyed following baseball games, She was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and her favorite players were Hank Sauer, Ernie Banks and Billy Williams.

Surviving are her 3 sisters, Linda (Richard) Rippy, Paula (Herb) Hellmann, Carol (Tom) Leitner, her brother, Charles (Dottie) Stade, her brother in law, Ralph Buhrow and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great great nieces and great great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lauretta Voelkner, Verna Wetterman, Diane Buhrow and her brother, Edwin Stade Jr,

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 24 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Mark Bestul officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of the services in the church.
