Richard I. Marblestone, 84, of Elgin passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017. He was born in 1932 in Taylorville, IL the son of Irving and Bernice Bamberger Marblestone.
Dick graduated from Taylorville High School in 1950 and Washington University in St. Louis in 1954. He entered the University of Illinois College of Law in 1954 and then served in the U.S. Army for two years. He returned to law school, from which he graduated in February, 1959 and was admitted into the Illinois State Bar in May, 1959. He moved to Washington D.C. to join the Department of Justice. Later he was admitted to practice before the State Bar in California and was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in April, 1969. The family moved to Elgin in 1962 where Dick began his private law practice. He retired from active practice in June, 2012.
Dick enjoyed good food, good wine, music, especially jazz, travel, and the St. Louis Cardinals. His friends and family were most important to him.
He is survived by his wife Anne (Pickett) whom he married in August, 1959; daughters Tracy (Mark) Brant of Grand Rapids, MI and Sara (Sheri Tracey) Marblestone of Denver, CO; grandsons Andrew (Allie) Brant and Matthew Brant each of Ohio, his brother David (Barbara) Marblestone, two nieces and two nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Irving and Bernice Marblestone.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 28 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Karen Schlack officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
