Howard Fred Raddatz passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s Hospital in Elgin, IL, on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 7:40 PM. He was 84 years old. Howard was born on the South side of Chicago on July 31, 1932, and lived his entire life in Chicago and its suburbs. He was known for his love of Chicago and its sports teams (especially the White Sox); and his beloved family. With the help of his father-in-law, he built the first house he and his wife, Charlotte, lived in; he worked for 12 years at Bell & Gossett; and 30 years at Bastian-Blessing as a tool and dye maker; he helped in the startup of (and contributed to various other aspects of) “The Texan Bar-B-Q” in Algonquin (which has been in operation since 1984), with his son, Glenn, and Glenn’s wife Rochelle; Howard is predeceased by: his wife of fifty years, Charlotte; and his son, Glenn Raddatz. He is survived by his is son, Craig (and his wife Susan) Raddatz of Lake in the Hills, IL; his daughter, Lynn, of Walnut Creek, CA; his son Steve (and his wife Debra) Raddatz, of Roscoe, IL; daughter-in-law, Rochelle Raddatz of Algonquin, IL; Grandchildren: Jessica Lynn (and husband Joseph) Cervantes; Jessica Elizabeth Raddatz; Matthew (and his wife Tori) Raddatz; Rebekah (and her husband Daniel) McMenamin; Sarah (and her fiancé Dustin LaVallee) Laybourne; Erik (and his wife Erin) Laybourne; Nicole (and her husband John) Kenney, Kellie (and her husband Mark) Roszel; Blake Brockman. Great grandchildren: Ashyln Neumann; Everett McMenamin; Malcolm Kenney. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 27, 2017, at Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin, IL at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:30 AM until the time of mass. A lunch will be served at The Texan BBQ, 101 N.
