Dennis M. DeBoer, 80, of Elgin passed away on March 24, 2017
at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 13, 1936
in Forest Park, IL the son of Edward and Frances (Bouhan) De Boer.
Dennis was a Veteran and served in the US Marine Corps.
He was in the insurance and investment service industry for
55 years before retiring in 2016. Dennis established DeBoer & Associates in 1974.
He was a 42 time qualifier for MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) the pinnacle of Life Insurance sales success. Dennis was also a 29 time qualifier for the Mutual of Omaha's
companies prestigious Chairman’s Council as well as numerous other
honors as an agent. Dennis belonged to St. Laurence Catholic Church,
Elgin Sports Hall of Fame and the Elgin Country Club. A longtime dedicated
volunteer with St. Edwards Catholic H.S. sports programs and was voted
Alumnus of the Year in 2005 for his life time support. Dennis
traveled extensively with Mutual of Omaha giving many motivational
speeches and made television commercials for Mutual of Omaha's
Survivors include his wife: Bonnie (nee Potter) whom he married on
October 25, 1958; his children: Michael, Steven (Dede) and Denise;
7 grandchildren: Mitchell (Megan), Matthew (Rose), Megan (Trent)
DeBoer O'Donnell, David, Ali, Monika and Ana; 4 great grandchildren:
Wyatt, Lucy, Gabriel and Maria; his brothers: Richard (Helen) and
Peter DeBoer; and a sister Debora DeBoer Scott, along with many
nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents, brother Robert and sisters Maria and Teresa.
Funeral mass will be held Saturday April 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM at
St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin. Visitation will be on Friday
at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin from 4-8:00 PM and on Saturday at the
church from 9:15 AM until the mass. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be given to Elgin Sports Hall of Fame or
St Edward Catholic H.S. both of which meant so much to Dennis.
