Oswald H. “Ozzy” Schloemer, 87, Elgin passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. He was born April 3, 1930 in Elgin the son of Carl and Josephine Surmann Schloemer. Ozzy was a Veteran, and had served in the US Airforce. He had been a resident of Elgin for all of his life and was a graduate of Elgin High School. Ozzy had been employed by Motorola for 25 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin.
He was active and past president of the Model T Club, Elgin and was an active member of the Nash Car Club of America. Ozzy always enjoyed working on Antique cars with his many friends.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, whom he married on August 4, 1979; 3 children: Carl (Karrie) Schloemer, Annette (Kurt) Miller, and Scott Hannell; 4 grandchildren: Eric, Kristin, Deanna and Leah; 2 great grandchildren; a sister: Rita (Bracy) Smith; 2 brothers: Carl (Helma) and Ron (Lynn) Schloemer; a sister in law: Dorothy Bosse; and a brother in law: Allen Schutz; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons: Steffan Jerome Schloemer and Paul Michael Schloemer.
Funeral mas will be held on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Andrew Mulcahey officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-7:00 PM at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until processing to church for mass at 11:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested masses in his name or to the Parkinson’s Research Foundation.
