Hans J. Luedtke, 80, of Elgin passed away Thursday, August 8, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 24, 1937 in Stettin, Germany, son of Bruno and Charlotte Luedtke. He came to America in 1950. He has one surviving brother Manfred Luedtke of Green Valley, Arizona. He has two surviving daughters Debora (Ron) Krause and Eva (Corey) Luedtke-Ostdick. Four grandchildren Jason Wydra, Veronica Doherty, Arianna and Noah Ostdick. Three great-grandchildren Leo and Lillyanna Cantor and Emerson Doherty.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 43 years Anita.
He served in the United States Army Recon, 2nd Battalion, 11th Armored Calvary. He worked at the Elgin Police Department as a police officer, followed by 35 years at the Illinois Gas Company (Nicor). He retired in 1997 as Elgin Transportation Crewleader.
He had a special devotion to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held from 4 to 7pm on Wednesday, August 16th at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with a Eulogy immediately afterwards.
