Noble Eugene Tester passed away November 14, 2017 at age of 79 of complications, heart trouble, and other conditions. Born October 17, 1918 in Elizabethton, TN. Gene lived there, in Sadieville, KY, in Indiana and back in Elizabethton growing up. Gene was a graduate of Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He served as minister in the Christian Church in Ohio, Mt. Pleasant, KY, Germantown, KY, and as youth minister in Elgin, IL. Attended Aurora College and received a Masters Degree in History from Northern Illinois University. As Mr. Tester, Gene was Dean of Students at the Model School in Elgin, Principal at the South Elgin Elementary School, Principal at Hillcrest Elementary in Elgin, and ended up teaching history at Streamwood High School – the job he loved best. After he retired he taught classes through Aurora University to teachers working to get advanced degrees. He loved motorcycling, photography, helping to lead worldwide study tours, and talking to people. Gene was preceded in death by his sister Florence Tash and his daughter Julia Lewis. He is survived by his wife Sylvia; his daughter Rachael Ananda, her children Robert Grunert and Cassandra Scott, Bob’s wife and children, Kelsey, Sareth, and Han, and Cassandra’s husband, Emmet; Gene’s son-in-law, Jon Lewis, and granddaughter, Rebecca; his sisters, Mary Nell Hogg and Doris Murphy, and Mary Nell’s husband, Ralph, and their children; plus numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. Gene was a Past President of the Dundee Township Lions Club and a continuing board member. A memorial gathering to honor and remember Gene will be held at the Village Squire in West Dundee, on Saturday December 2, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. A buffet will be featured and a cash bar will be available. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Dundee Township Lions Club.
