Freeman “David” Sever, 91, of Elgin, Ill. passed on May 3, 2018.
Mr. Sever was born to Glenn and Marie (MacDonald), July 28, 1926, in Lisbon, North Dakota. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1944 and served in the Army prior to settling down in Elgin to begin a family. He leaves as his three children: Barbara (Michael) Fosser, Jeanne (Ronald) Brandt, and Arthur John (Sue). He also leaves four loving grandchildren: Jennifer Fosser, Kyle Brandt, Bradley (Julianne) Fosser, and Glenn Brandt. His one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Fosser, and beloved sister, Marilyn Absolon along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Glenn and his mother Marie. Mr. Sever held several jobs after the Army, working at Illinois Tool Works, Kerbers Meat Packing, school district U-46 and retired after working for several years at The Walnut Inn. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time spoiling his grandchildren and keeping active at The Vines Senior Center. Funeral mass will be held Saturday May 12 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Dr. Elgin with Fr. Richard Rosinski officiating. Burial to follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday May 11 from 5-8 p.m. at the Laird Funeral Home 310 S. State St., Elgin and on Saturday morning at the church from 9:15 A.M. until the time of mass. Memorials may be given to The Vines Senior Center, Elgin.
