Georgia D. Ross 84, formerly DeSoto, Illinois, died July 31st at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Georgia was born in Jackson County, Illinois September 17th, 1934 to Clifford E. and Helen M. (Carter) Batteau. She Married Denis Ross of Chicago on October 10th, 2002, and he survives.

Other survivors include three children, Kathy (Jimmy) Tucker of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Suzan (Kathy) Stanley of Burlington, Wisconsin, and Julie (Mark) Sakharia of Hampshire, Illinois; grandchildren Tommy (Alison) Stanley of Centerville, Tennessee, Tiffany (Gary) Sago of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Scott Tucker of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Sydney Sakharia of Chicago, Illinois, four great-grandsons, Tucker (Kelsey) Sago, Tyler Sago, Tristan Sago, and Chase Stanley, two great-granddaughters, Lilly and Layla, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Also surviving is sister Mary Ellen Willoughby of Wichita, Kansas and brother John (Janet) Batteau of Du Quoin, Illinois; sister-in-law, Gloria (Clifford) Batteau of Muscatine, Iowa, and Ola Mae (Donald Ray) Batteau of Sandia, Texas, and Marilyn (Bill) Batteau of Vergennes, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

Georgia lived and worked in Southern Illinois for many years, later moving to the western suburbs of Chicago where she worked at Motorola Corp of Schaumburg for the bulk of her professional career. She loved traveling, playing bridge, spending time with friends and family, and rooting for the Bears, Bulls, or Cubs. She belonged to the Elgin Women’s Club and served as President for three years.

She was a Protestant and attended Willow Creek Community Church in Schaumburg.

It is with great sadness that we and her beloved husband Denis, say goodbye to Georgia. She was a special person who lived life fiercely. She loved her family and friends, and they all loved her. She will be missed but always remembered.
