Roy R. Will Jr (Rich) 73, of Elgin, Illinois, died August 20th at Citadel of Elgin.
Rich was a life-long resident of Elgin. He was born on November 9th, 1945 to Roy R. Sr. and Opal V. (Workman) Will. He married and is survived by Marlene J. (Schoon), also a life-long resident of Elgin, on September 11th, 1971. Together, they raised 2 children, Jason and Melinda. A veteran of Korea, Rich was a proud Life Member of the VFW. He also served as a Past Commander of their Elgin Post 1307. He was the owner of Elgin Window Cleaning Co. in the 80’s and 90’s and retired as a Maintenance Engineer at Elgin High School. To everyone who knew him, Rich was a great friend who would always greet you with a smile and a handshake, a hug, or both. He enjoyed playing poker, golfing, and fishing. His sense of humor was unmatched, and he was always ready with a joke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sr. and Opal and is survived by his wife, Marlene, children Jason P. (Shaun Mitchell); and Melinda L. (Arlana Jones), 3 grandchildren (Bryanna, Aiden, and Arthur), and 2 younger siblings; brother David (Jeannie Vranes) and sister Joan (Keith Williams). It was Rich’s request that there be no services after cremation, but that his family and friends celebrate his life by raising a glass and always remember him with a smile. Plans are to have a private burial with Military Honors.
