Jacquelyn "Jackie" A Pierce

Jacquelyn (Jackie) Ann Pierce passed away on November 17, 2019 surrounded by love and blessed with the peace of a life well-lived. She was a long time resident of Marco Island.

Jackie was born on April 26, 1935. She was pre-deceased in death by her husband Harry L. Pierce of Chicago, IL and her parents Lowell and Letha McKay of Hannibal, MO. Jackie is survived by her son Clint Miller and her granddaughter Vanessa Miller of Pismo Beach, CA; her sister Glenna Sue Wagner of Palmyra, MO, and four nieces. Private internment will be in Elgin, IL, by Laird Funeral home. A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, Marco Island, FL in mid-January, date and time to be announced.

Starting in early childhood, Jackie was an inveterate world traveler. She has visited all seven continents at least once and her 300+ cruise vacations have taken her to multiple countries worldwide.

Jackie recently achieved Professional Registered Parliamentarian status, the highest level of accreditation available from the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP). NAP is the largest such association in the world. She was one of only 18 registered Parliamentarians in the State of Florida and served on the Boards of the National, Illinois, Florida and Charlotte County Unit of Parliamentarians.

Jackie was a highly respected leader and champion of women’s issues. She was tireless in the pursuit of her passions through her association with local, national and international organizations and programs dedicated to empowering women’s lives. She was a creative, high-energy, accomplished community volunteer. She served as President of over 50 clubs and state organizations. She co-founded the Collier Senior Resources in Golden Gate, FL and is nationally recognized as the founder of the One Million Voices Against Domestic Violence Campaign for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

Jackie served as an active Committee Member, Parliamentarian and/or President on the boards of numerous local organizations, including Greater Naples Leadership; The Shelter for Abused Women and Children; the Greater Naples American Association of University Women; Naples Woman’s Club; Collier County Scholar; Junior Women of Initiative Mentor; Marco Island Woman’s Club; Marco Island Center for the Arts; and the Collier County Senior Citizen Advisory Committee.

Jackie spent her term as the 2006-2008 International President of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) at their headquarters in Washington, D.C. She served on many national boards including the National Women’s Historical Museum; National Women’s Art Museum; GFWC Southern Region, GFWC Florida and Florida District 12; GFWC Illinois, both as the State President and the State Parliamentarian; and the American Seminar Leaders Association.

Jackie was often honored by the organizations and communities she served. She was one of the Community Foundation of Collier County Women’s Philanthropic Network 2013 Women of Initiative honoree. The Naples Daily News recognized Jackie as one of 2016’s “25 over 50” Collier community leaders making a positive imprint on the community. Other awards include the AAUW Susan B. Anthony award; Outstanding University of Illinois Alumnae Award; Chicago Suburban Volunteer of the Year; and Cosmopolitan Woman of the Year.
