Marlene Tyda, 78, died Monday, December 16 surrounded by her loving family.

Marlene was born February 2, 1941 to Richard and Ada Langenstrass in
Chicago. They later moved to Lombard. Marlene attended Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn graduating in 1959. Months after her high school graduation, Marlene married Jerome (Jerry) Tyda on September 26. For several years they lived in Virginia where Jerry was stationed in the Army. They moved back to Chicago later settling in Addison, Elk Grove Village and most recently in
Algonquin.

Marlene held many jobs including medical secretary, medical records clerk, postal worker and Peapod shopper. She also attended Triton College studying court reporting.

Marlene, in her younger years, was a member of Itasca Country Club playing in the Women’s Golf League. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, reading, line dancing, shopping and writing children’s poetry.

Marlene was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease while in her forties. She never once
complained even as her symptoms progressed deeply affecting her life in her later years.

Marlene was well-loved and enjoyed many friendships in her life. She will be dearly missed.

Marlene is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 60 years. Her children, Julie (Richard) Goschey, Matt Tyda and Jason (Lori) Tyda. Her grandchildren Zachary (Megan) Goschey, Hannah Goschey, Stephan Tyda and Joshua Tyda. Her sister, Susan (Thomas) Conroy and her sister in law, Carol Langenstrass. Her Aunt Rose and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Werner Langenstrass.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 4:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of Third and Oregon) West Dundee. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of services.
