In Loving Memory of Paul H. Wauchope

Paul H. Wauchope, 89, was ushered into eternity while in the presence of his daughters on January 22, 2020. He was born in Elgin on July 9, 1930, son of Roy H. Wauchope and Hazel (Strahl) Wauchope.

In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, he completed a tour of duty in France and was honorably discharged in 1954.

On May 14, 1955, he married Janet (Jensen) Wauchope. They lived in Elgin their entire married life and raised three children. Paul was a carpentry contractor who worked with his father for several years and then for various general contractors in the Elgin area thereafter. He retired from that role and shortly thereafter began serving as the manager of Plant Operations for Judson College, now Judson University. In 2005, he was the honored recipient of the Judson University Golden Eagle award which is given annually to one individual in recognition of dedication and service to Judson. He ultimately retired from this role in 2006. Paul enjoyed big band music, boating, fishing, hunting and various other outdoor sports and activities. His favorite place was the family cabin in Nestor Falls, Ontario on the shores of Lake of the Woods.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, his sister Marcella (Howard) Worden, of Elgin, his children, Jerry B. (Tamara) Wauchope of Englewood, Colorado, Lynn J. (Larry) Saxe, of Elgin, Sally P. (Paul) Anhalt, of West Allis, Wisconsin and eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Schuetz.

Visitation will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 2700 W. Highland Avenue in Elgin
on Saturday, February 8th, at 10:00 AM and followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.

The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the entire staff at The Sheridan at Tyler Creek and to Kindred At Home hospice services for their competent and caring assistance and support for Paul and the family in this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association and Kindred at Home Foundation located at 85 West Algonquin Road, Suite 100, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.
