 Rolando R. Siazon, 79, of Woodstock passed away on January 21, 2020 at Journey Care in Barrington surrounded by family. He was born November 4, 1940 in Nueva Ecija Philippines to Patricio and Perpetua Siazon. He married Francisca Bernabe Siazon on March 23, 1965 his true love and they were together for 54 Blessed Years.
He is survived by his children Maribel Siazon, Sonny (Marissa Tolentino) Siazon, Rosemarie (Paul) Woodcock, his grandchildren, Morgan, Megan, Madison, Logan and Sean and his siblings: Monica Siazon, Erlinda (Marcelino) Bala, Ricardo Siazon, Rodolfo (Miriam) Siazon, Reynaldo (Elizabeth) Siazon, Roberto (Leonida) Siazon, Lydia (Roberto) DeGuzman, Leonora (Jose) Requeno.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife: Francisca and his loving parents: Patricio and Perpetua Reguindin and Step-Mother Apolonia; and brother Basilio Siazon.
He was a college graduate with an Associate in Architecture at Philippines University of Arts and Trade Manila and held a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Philippines Statesman College. He taught at Quezon Central School, Quezon Neuva Ecija and San Mariano Elementary School. He graduated with honors both elementary and high school. He made the deans list during his college years and graduated from college with achieving a great honor as “Magna Cum Laude.”
When he arrived in the United States, he worked as a design engineer for companies like General Electric, Boeing and Rockwell International. He also enjoyed working at the Anvil Club part time. He was a dedicated husband to his loving wife. He came to the United States in 1968 to start a path for a better life for his family. He also worked three jobs to help bring his brothers,sisters and parents here so that they too could have a better life. He had the biggest heart in helping everyone. He loved life and such a great sense of humor with his constant joking and his laughter was so contagious. He enjoyed singing Karaoke with his wife especially Elvis songs and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play basketball. He loved the game of basketball and also enjoyed coaching the Filipino basketball league in Glendale Heights. He taught his own children when life gets difficult to stay strong to the end and remember that you can always get through anything with a sense of humor.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:30AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Dr., Elgin IL. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and again on Saturday at church from 9:30AM until the time of mass.
