William "Bill" Nakoneczny, 73, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2020. He was born on December 21st, 1946, to Joseph and Mary (Hendricks) Nakoneczny.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965 where he was an all-city offensive lineman, and he boxed for the Golden Gloves. He joined the Air Force in 1966, and served in Okinawa as a jet engine mechanic and was discharged in 1972.
Bill worked at U.S. Can from the late 70’s and retired in 2010.
He was an avid sports fan, especially of Ohio state and all of the Cleveland teams. He had many great friends whom he loved, and was known for his sarcastic wit. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children: Kimberly Jachec (Daniel), and William Nakoneczny Jr. (Karisa); his siblings, Rosemary, Robert, Diane, and Lela. Grandchildren, Amanda, Nicole, and Matthew (Kimberly), Caitlyn, Alexis, Becca, and Tyler (William).
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Shelly Nakoneczny, his brother Richard, and wife Yvonne (Sue).
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday July 17, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors Fund. For information call 847-741-8800 or www.lairdfamilyfuneralservices.com.
