 Burton (“Burt”) Friedman, 87, Elgin, IL, passed away on June 2, 2020 at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.
Burt was born on May 2, 1933 to Ethel (Rose) and Sidney Friedman in Chicago, IL.
Burt served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a radio announcer and continued in the reserves until 1962.
Burt landed his first job at Kason Industries kicking off a lifetime career in sales.
Burt is long remembered as a man of many words who loved to socialize with people. He had no problem talking to complete strangers and made many friends with ease.
Burt is predeceased by his parents, his brother Paul and stepson Greg. He is remembered fondly by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Shirley, his daughter Robi and several stepchildren from his first marriage including Jeff, Terri, Tim, Heidi and Mandi; and from his second marriage including Corinne, Jamie, Steven and Marcy. Along with his pride and joy, many, many, many grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9th from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State Street, Elgin, IL 60123. Private burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Norridge, IL.
Shiva (mourning period in Judaism) will take place on Tuesday, June 9th and Wed., June 10th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at 535 Barn Swallow Way, #5B, Elgin, IL 60123 and all are welcome to attend.
