Jonathan Mott, 34, of Chicago and formerly of Geneva, Illinois, died on June 8, 2020.

Jon had an impact on everyone around him, with a big smile and a loving personality – you knew he cared. Jon found great comfort and support in the church, as a young man he was baptized at Christ Community in St. Charles and their student ministry was a mainstay in his life all through middle and high school. Jon went on to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

From a very early age, Jon had an affinity for the water and spent many a lazy afternoon napping on his family’s pontoon boat on Lake Kegonsa in Wisconsin. He was serious about boating, earning his license at age 12 and becoming a skilled water skier. Jon was an avid reader, sometimes tackling two books at a time, though he also had stacks of boating magazines at all times. Passionate about cars, food, music and life, he engaged with the world around him. The neighborhood always knew when Jon was playing music, he loved to push his stereo system to its utter limits and had no shame letting the neighborhood know his playlists. Neighbors had his phone number and would politely ask him to take it down several notches.

Jon joined Envestnet in 2009 as part of the Chicago office. From the mailroom Jon progressed to AVP, Client Experience Service Manager. Jon was an amazing colleague and friend to those he worked with at Envestnet. Never one to miss a team event, he was often a runner-up to the annual Ugly Christmas Sweater contest and a willing palate to taste the latest potluck entry. Jon loved catching individuals off balance and was a jokester at heart. He was a special part of the culture at work, so much so that Envestnet will be creating the Jonathan Mott Award for Outstanding Performance - a monthly award to identify, recognize and reward those employees who go above and beyond and who have a commitment to service and operational excellence at ENV.

He was a member of more than one family. A son to more than one dad/mom, a loyal friend to all. Jon was able to connect with individuals that wanted to be heard, he had profound amounts of love, he gave it to all. He was a catalyst and brought individuals together using humor, a kind word or just listening with an open heart to get through tension, worry or challenge. He listened, he cared and he supported others in need. He was coming into his own and growing up into a great man.

Jon was the beloved son of Robert and Rosalyn Mott, younger brother to Jana Lynn Mott who will miss him forever. Jon was a devoted owner to Goose and Julius, two furry bundles who loved him back.

We lost Jon too soon.

Those who wish to give a gift to honor Jonathan can make a donation to their local animal shelter.
