Sherman L. Murphy

Sherman Lee Murphy was born March 24, 1930 to the late
Charlie Murphy, Sr. and Nellie Coleman in Rayville, Louisiana.

He married the love of his life, Lee Ethel Taylor (deceased) in
Chicago, IL on March 12, 1955. They were blessed with five
children, Leonard Taylor (Eileen), Willie Jean Quadri, Veloria
Murphy-George, Janitter Murphy and Sean K. Murphy. God
also gifted Sherman with his daughter Maudie (deceased).

Sherman was a steadfast and devoted husband and father. He
worked tirelessly for his family for they were his pride and joy.
He was a highly respected employee, working for Landis and
Gyr for 33 years and retiring with high honors in 1996.

Preceded in death by his parents and three of his four siblings,
Wille Mae, Margaret, and Freddie. He leaves behind one brother, Charlie.

Sherman leaves to mourn his loving memories five children,
Leonard Taylor (Eileen), Willie Jean Quadri, Veloria Murphy-
George, Janitter Murphy and Sean Murphy; 11 grandchildren
and 9 great grandchildren along with a host of cousins, nieces,
nephews and friends.

Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow in Bluff City Cemetery.
