On Thursday December 31st, 2020, Janet “Cookie” Todt, loving mother and oldest sister of five, passed away peacefully in her home after a long battle with cancer.
Janet was born in Joliet, IL to Irene and John Vershay. She was a beautician and the lead vocalist for groups such as “UTAH” and “Cookie and the Facts of Life” in the Chicago area. In 1979 she married George Todt, and raised their only daughter, Lindsey.
Janet had a love for music, she sang for many years in various groups and she loved to be involved in her daughter’s plays and musicals. She was known for her love of helping people and admired for her fierce and strong, yet stubborn personality. Her smile was infectious and she would always have her audience around her laughing to the point of tears with stories.
Janet is preceded in death by her Father, John. She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Lindsey; mother, Irene; sister, Judy; brothers, Gary, Paul, Ronnie; former husband, George and nieces and nephews.
