Lois Ann Schumann, 93, of St. Charles, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. She was born in Oak Park on December 27, 1927, lived a full and happy life and peacefully joined her husband, Herbert, and her son, Wayne who both preceded her in death. She and Herbert were happily married for 48 years. She is survived by her daughter, and loving caregiver for her in her later life, Heidi, and her son Russell. She and Herbert are also survived by their five beautiful grandchildren: Robert Schumann, Ryan Schumann, Dusty Lee Casteel, Daniel Gorajczyk, and Holly Durst; eleven loving great grandchildren: Blake Schumann, Teagan Schumann, Jorden Streich, Dawson Streich, Ophelia Casteel, Keegan Gorajczyk, Kendal Gorajczyk, Zoe Durst, Tia Durst, Noa Durst and Ema Durst.
As a parent, Lois was always very involved in church and school activities with her children and often accompanied them on field trips around the U.S. and even to Germany. She and Herbert loved camping in the Wisconsin Northwoods with their children and grandchildren and also spending time at the Eagle, WI farm of Adolf & Alvina Schumann and visiting the Rockford, Illinois home of her late parents, Martin & Claribel Wiltfang. When her children left the nest she drove a school bus for 20 years to transport handicapped children to special education classes in the public schools that they attended, and she counseled at handicapped and church camps. She and Herbert so enjoyed being with children, especially their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren … they were good parents and were happy, loving people. All of us who are a part of the Schumann Family have been very blessed, and we will miss Lois very much as we do Herbert and Wayne, and all those of our family & friends who have departed this life, including her dear friend Al Henriksen … may they ALL rest in PEACE.
Lois Ann’s cremains will be interred with Herbert’s in River Valley Memorial Gardens in West Dundee. Due to restrictions imposed for travel and receiving the Covid-19 vaccination shots family & friends will be notified when plans for a memorial celebration are made. For those desiring to do something in Lois’s name please make donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children and THANK YOU!!
