Anita M Wittig – Wagner of Crystal Lake passed away Tuesday, February 16th, 2021 after a long battle from several health related issues. She is survived by her son, Jeré (Dawn) Wittig, and granddaughter Allison Wittig. Cherished and loved sister-in-laws Linda Stromberg (Wittig), Sharon (Steve) Thorsen (Wittig), and proceeded in death by her parents Ben and Evelyn Cavallaro, her husband, Jeré, her sons Marc and John, brother-in-laws Richard, Scott, Marc, and Jay Wittig, sister-in-law Dawn Wittig, loving friend Nick Demas, and best friend Carol Claxton. She has many loving nieces and nephews, and lifelong loving and cherished friend Marie Demas and family.
Anita was world-renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. Everyone always knew where you stood with her. She liked you or she didn’t, it was black or white. As one of her children I remember we were always trying to figure out which one it was for us (we know she loved us). She always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. It was the school of hard knocks with her and yes we were told many times. With that said, she was genuine to a fault, a pussy cat at heart (or lion) and yet she sugar coated nothing.
Her words of encouragement, wisdom, and sometimes comfort, kept us in line, taught us the “school of hard knocks” and gave us something to pass down.
She was a master cook in the kitchen. She believed in cooking everything, and her food was the best. She could take the cheapest foods and meats and make a million dollar meal from them.
She leaves behind a very sad and devastated family and a son that she was very, very proud of. She was a wonderful woman that was loved, will forever be missed, and will always be cherished. She spent a lifetime loving and caring for so many people, and was loved by so many. She leaves a legacy of love and beauty for her family and friends.
Due to the pandemic, visitation, funeral, and grave side service will be scheduled in the spring. If you would like to be on the mailing list for the visitation, funeral, and grave side service dates and times, please email Jeré at jww965@msn.com.
Anita loved cats and dogs. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in her name to the ASPCA. Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel is in care of arrangements. 847-658-4232 or www.lairdfamilyfuneralservices.com.
